Infertility

Female

If you have been diagnosed with infertility due to a blocked fallopian tube, VIRNA may be able to help. To find out if you have ‘blocked tubes’, your Gynecologist will have performed a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG). If this test showed a blockage, your doctor may recommend you for Fallopian Tube Recanalization. Although the procedure begins very similar to your HSG, your Interventional Radiologist is able to use additional tools and microcatheters to help open the fallopian tubes again.

Many women go on to successful pregnancies after Fallopian Tube Recanalization. This procedure is only performed at the Grey Nuns Hospital.

Male

In some men, infertility can be caused by a condition called a Varicocele, which is simply an enlarged vein in the scrotum. This can also cause pain or swelling in the scrotum.

There are several treatment options for a varicocele, a conversation with your Urologist will determine if surgery or interventional embolization by VIRNA is the best choice for you.
